Gavin Morrissey, Senior Motion Designer at Critical Mass Chicago, will give us an overview of the agency's work. And we'll have another presentation that will be announced soon. Check out their great work for the Nissan Leaf below.

Update: Gavin Morrissey will also give a talk on the new Trapcode Form 2.0 plugin and how it fits into his C4D workflow.

Date: Wednesday November 2nd, 6:30pm
Location: Critical Mass, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Suite 2050, Chicago, IL, USA 60601
RSVP Required: In order to guarantee you a spot, please be sure to RSVP to our facebook invitation before 9am on Nov. 2. Thanks, and we'll see you there!

Update: All 40 spots are now filled for our Sept. 7 meeting—thanks for the great response! We'll see you next week.

Our September 7 meeting is at a pretty special Michigan Ave. location. (Be sure to include your full name, and we'll reply with all the details.) Inspired by the venue, we have put together two great presentations for you.

Cinema 4D R13 Demo
Maxon has just announced Cinema 4D R13. Chris Schmidt will demonstrate some of the new features in this major upgrade, including:

  • Completely new physically accurate rendering engine based on the properties of a real camera.
  • New character object including an auto rigger, which simplifies the process of building a rig and applying it to a character.
  • Stereoscopic 3D workflow for generating and viewing high-quality 3D content across a wide variety of media.
This may be your first chance to see Cinema 4D R13 in person, so you won't want to miss it.

Introduction to Python in Cinema 4D
Python is a powerful, easy to learn programming language that is deeply integrated with Cinema 4D. But if you're a designer, chances are you've been hesitant to dive into the world of code. Jack Bransfield will use a simple project to introduce you to the basics of Python and show you how it opens up a whole new world of possibilities in Cinema 4D.

We'll see you there!

Date: Wednesday September 7th, 6:30pm.

We're very excited to announce that Bridges Media will be hosting our July 6 meetup at their studio. Check out the details below, and please RSVP to the facebook invitation here.

Bridges invites you to visit our studio and drink our beer. But more importantly we'd like to share how Cinema 4D fits into our post production workflow from pre-viz to final renders. We'll be deconstructing one of our broadcast spots that was created in C4D and discuss how C4D fits with a budget conscious/quick turnaround client.

Date: Wednesday July 6th, 6:30pm
Location: Bridges Media, 100 W Kinzie 3rd Floor, Chicago, IL 60654
Please follow the prompts on the buzzer and wait to be called up on the elevator.

Chicago C4D is having a casual bar meetup this month.  We want to hear about what you've been working on and where C4D is taking you these days.  So join us for pizza and beer at Piece in Wicker Park.  It's just down the street from the Damen Blue Line stop.

We're reserving space for the event, so please RSVP in the comments, or on Facebook.  See you there!
